What is Spin? | Quantum Mechanics via Stern-Gerlach Experiment animation

Quantum Mechanical Spin (Spin Quantum Number) concept as it can be confusing. What is Spin? Here is explain what is Quantum Mechanical Spin and Electron Spin which is associated with quantum spin number #quahntasy

The Stern–Gerlach experiment demonstrated that the spatial orientation of angular momentum is quantized. It demonstrated that atomic-scale systems have intrinsically quantum properties.

The two weird magnets in the video are what the stern gerlach apparatus is.The screen is also as shown in the video. The magnets were in such a shape because they required a gradient.

This led to discovery of somewhat arbritary term "spin"
It is intrinsic property. And not related to classical spin.

I loved the bit at the end where you said (roughly) "If you didn't like this video, share it with your friends and tell them how much you hate them!"

100 points for style and I like the little talking electron even if he was a little hard to understand. Thanks.

This is a brilliant video man. I have enrolled for quantum computing course by IBM and this served a great help. Thanks a ton. Keep creating.
Btw, I guess you too are from India but from where.

Good and quite well explained, but please use some other kind of voice for the talking particles, something that's more easier to understand.

Very very nice explaination due to which I've to subscribe this channel 🙂

intrinsic angular momentum is not due to spinning on its own axis.
is this a relative angular momentum just as in the case of photons which have momentum which is not equal to mass into velocity but it exists with some other physical expression??

Moving charges produce a magnetic moment here what does the magnetic moment mean and why couldn't it just have been a magnetic field instead of a magnetic moment?

The video was good, appreciate the effort.
Can you further explain the comments you made on if electron spin is a classical one.
Thanks

I didn't understand anything but the animations were cute

Nice attempt, work on mic or voice quality.

i cant understand how the electron "knows" to show up his angular momentum in the same direction we want to measure it (z direction). It doesnt make sense. I mean why the quantization isnt on x axis ?
