Proof that competition benefits the consumer. Might be my sons next yak!

Hobie swooping in and stealing Pelican's thunder. I'm interested in this new hobie.

Glad there is a 10 ' option myself. I know some people prefer longer but some of us prefer shorter. I was really interested in the Pelican but 2 feet longer make it harder for me to haul, store and carry. As for thermal form vs rotomold most people will be just fine with a thinner hull. I know I dont need a bomb proof kayak. LOL

I'm stoked! I'm planning on buying a kayak by next year so I'm starting to do my research and I just found your channel, I gotta say it is very informative. Thank you!

This kayak is going to help bring a legitimate, less expensive, pedal drive kayak to the masses and grow our sport the way I like to see. The customer looking for a less expensive product won't be stuck with a cheap off brand (no offense Aliex, but the pelican is just that). Plus this kayak comes with the turbo drive, arguably Hobie's most reliable drive to date. Looking forward to the reviews once it hits the marketplace.

The edge definitely goes to Pelican Catch 130HD on looks and style. Other than the hatch on the Hobie, Pelican seems to be more fish ready. It's got more tracks, rod holders etc. It is a bit heavier. I wonder if people will pay $200 more for 1.5ft and a hatch? The battle begins!! Stay tuned.

Wow! Can’t wait to learn more! I can already say it’s not going to be my primary boat but I can definitely see a place for it—for my kids for example.

Ahh yea! Hobie still out front. This was a surprise 👍😁
Can’t wait to see and demo this kayak also🎣

It's interesting they waited until Pelican did it before releasing this. Could they have done it a year ago ? Probably. The Pelican is a larger boat. I'm not crazy about a 10 footer. Hobie or not. I think the Pelican offers a better value. ( my 2 cents..) Spot on, Aliex !

It looks just like a Lifetime Tamarack 10' which I modded to take a hobie pedal drive using that same inflatable well adapter. Total cost $500 with a used mirage drive, lol. It can be done!

Seems good to me... let's Hobie compete with less expensive brands!

It appears to this old codger that Hobie just VALIDATED the process for kayaks. So much for all of the Nay-Sayers beating on Pelican over the last few years. This is getting very interesting. Wonder who will jump in next with a reasonably priced pedal yak? I'd prefer a reverse gear, of course.

Looks nice. It's nice to see a good brand coming out with some more affordable options.

Nice review Aliex. How does the thermoform hull stand up to scratches and general rough treatment a kayak gets? Will the Bixpy fit the mirage drive well? I like the rudder set up on this better than the compass as less likely to be damaged when loading on to my car. Also the seat seems easier to install than the compass. I may trade in my Viking Profish GT for this as I miss having the mirage drive. Regards

Has Hobbie copied back Pelican's ideas after Pelican copied their drive?

It is like the smaller Pelican Catch 100 but with a Mirage Drive. I like it!!!! I was very tempted to get the Catch 100 but after messaging back and forth with Marty Zoffinger, he recommended the 12ft models for me stating the Catch 100 was perfect for him because he is a small guy. I still want to get another small kayak for certain situations.

I love my Catch 130, definitely go with the 12.5 over a 10 footer.

I can't wait to see how stable it is. Flip it Aliex!

Would like a longer boat that carries more, but interested to see if this one has less of that the Pelican has. It looks fast!
