I was considering one of these but as icon dumped the 4M band I'm no longer interested.
I wonder how many others have made the same decision?

I got one of these! In fact, I will taking the pilgrimage to the Ham Rado Outet on my next non-rent paycheck to accessorize (I only got the radio, itself and the LC-192 backpack.

Certainly looks the business, Icom are setting the pace with these sort of transceivers by utilising everything that is available with modern technology. A bit pricy admittedly but I guess you get what you pay for and I’m sure these will hold their value on the second hand market.

A very nice radio. However, I still can’t work out why they abandoned 4m, especially after initial advertising it as included. Including D-Star was a good move though.

The GPS output is great for syncing the time on a laptop when you’re away from the Internet and want to do FT8. My little laptop keeps awful time otherwise!

No doubt it is a very good set for portable use. However, if using for home there may be better choices with a bit more power.
Shame they chose to loose a band, but they may have their reasons for it, though none offered! I think it is one of these sets that sound like a good idea, but I honestly think you need to use it before making your mind up about it.

Yaesu really got lazy with the FT818! That looks brill Lewis. See they have gone like Elecraft with the form factor.

Mate, you should not use your finger nails to press the screen like you did. It not only says that in the Manual but it is common sense!

Great review, but way over priced, and battery life isn't too good wouldn't say no if someone gave me one though.
