Great tutorial of a simple trick!! When in Indesign CC, make sure you uncheck "Allow Document Pages to Shuffle" after you've right clicked the page you want to set as page number 1. Cheers!

THANK GOD! I had that problem with the page numbering starting on the left for so long, and I finally tried to rectify the problem. Searching in Google doesn't help at all.. Can say I am relieved to finally know how to do it! Thanks :D

Well, for starters, if I do it exactly like you demonstrate I get a warning dialog that says "A page number in this section already exists in another section. Duplicate page numbers can create confusion that may prevent you from printing or exporting specific page ranges. To avoid this problem specify a unique section prefix or click ok & choose absolute numbering in the preferences dialog box"

Hi, thank you for your video. I was able to start page 1 in the middle of the document, but now it cut the document up so that pg 1 is on the right. How do I get the 1st page in the middle of the book to be on the left side? Thanks in advance if you can answer this question.

If I go to preferences, it's already set for absolute page numbering. If I click "OK" in the warning dialog it will change my page numbering as I desire, however it makes it impossible to add or delete pages without making my page flow go haywire. Not sure what version of ID you have but it looks like this is just another example of Adobe ruining another app.

Hi, i'm having problems because i want page numbering to start at page 4, so the document forces page four to be on the right, (leaving a blank space between page three and new page one) how can i get indesign to let me have page 1 on the left?

@johnbuhril I'm explaining how you can set your first page to any page you want within your document. In the example I wanted page 1 to actually start on page 5 of my document. I know it's confusing saying 1 but actually starting it on page 5. There shouldn't be any resolution changes when taking a saved image from Photoshop and placing it into Indesign as a JPEG unless you manually change the size.

This is fantastic until the 2:50 mark. The problem I have now is deleting the page numbering from 1-4. How can I do this? The way the tutorial leaves it, we now have one section that goes 1-4 and another that goes from 1-?. So how do we delete the first section's numbers? Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry you were having trouble with this. I think an updated tutorial using cs6 is in order. Also, your numbering is going to be different from my set up based on your own preferences and documents. You will have to adjust accordingly and only use my suggestions as a guide to get you there.
