MOB Entertainment really knocked it out of the park with this chapter. Like I enjoyed poppy playtime chapters 1 and 2 plenty, they're fun! But holy hell Chapter 3 DELIVERED. It's genuinely one of my favorite mascot horror games, and CatNap was GREAT!

Best bit of lore is the farewell message to MatPat, who hilariously missed it in his playthrough. Also feel Ollie is a second shout out to MatPat

I think all the small Smiling Critters were the babies whose cribs we saw in Home Sweet Home. And I think Ollie is SUS as all Hell. We do a lot of things in this chapter without knowing why. I think the biggest question for me is WHY we needed to divert the poppy gas to the left. We are given no reason for this other than needing to do it.

Everyone seems to forget about when, in Chapter 2, we learn of one incident where the Prototype used misc. items and a battery to make a camera disabler so he could slip out when someone came in to check on him, but they were able to seal the doors and prevent the Prototype from escaping, even though someone was trapped inside with him and doomed to a horrific death. I just feel like that tape is such a fascinating one, as it shows the Prototype’s resourcefulness and ability to find blind spots in cameras and be able to hide out sight from said spots. Just a neat part of the lore that people don’t really talk about much and it sucks because that makes the Prototype an even cooler villain IMO

I theorise that Catnap offered himself to the prototype. I think he knew the next step would be to join his master... at first he flinches away but he soon regains himself and willingly(with open arms) accepts his fate... just a thought.

2:25 I just love how when the antagonists' renders pop up first three are like in that spooky-but-cute-mascot-horror style and CatNap is a literal nightmare fuel
It's really nice to see that dev team finally starts to move on from that "horror for kids" stuff to something more serious, I hope it will make game more fun both for the people who work on it and for the people who play it

My speculation is that Elliot Ludwig is the prototype. If you think about it, he died before the BBI could go through, he was the only one in the way, so once he died the scientists turned him into the prototype as their first foray into the project

think we gotta change the notion that elliot ludwig was innocent because he built an orphanage under ground and that already is a massive red flag and no matter how we look at it he had to either desecrate someone remains in order to make the original poppy doll that came to life

I could honestly see the baby spider as Ollie, however I’d like to add on to this: I’m speculating that Ollie is also the dead boy that was found in Elliot’s house. Because in the radio news we hear about a little boy’s body being found, but he had no internal organs when they found him… meaning the little boy was turned in to something but what? We don’t get a lot of evidence as to who BUT atm Ollie feels like a good candidate to this. Also, the way he talks about the critters makes it sound like he had no clue what they where, he says along the lines of “I think” there where 8-9. So he’s not very positive about what gose on in the playcare (besides the clear fact he knows where we are, he probably was watching us from the security cams) also meaning he was probably stored away or something…
Of course I do also see people say Ollie is just the prototype and if that’s the case I do believe it still makes sense that it was the boy-

I have a theory that no matter how much you mutilate the toys, they don’t completely die. We already know from Dog-Day being a half eaten mess yet he still kinda lives, granted in unbearable pain. Mommy Long Legs was afraid of being taken out by the shredder, not because she was afraid of death, but afraid of being made part of the prototype. Wasn’t one of the whole points of the experiments to keep people from dying? We also don’t even know if they can die from starvation, only that it’s almost unbearable to not eat anything.

In the chapter we are hinted at an idea that we were an employee that was supposed to be there on the day of the Hour of Joy. (I believe it was a vhs tape) There was only one employee who didn't show up to work that day. Rich, from multiple other parts of the series including a vhs tape in this chapter. He cared for the kids and was concerned about the daycare not having real sunlight. He also was hinted at to have become a higher up through promotion from his supervisor. Meaning he would have known about the things happening in the factory eventually, but we dont know to what extent.
I think we play as Rich, come back to find out what happened 10 years ago on the day he called out.

The grab packs were probably made to be used with protective suits or specially reinforced toy bodies, so what happened to Theo and even Catnap would just be the expected outcome of something with normal fleshiness trying to transfer high voltage current with the green hand.

Ollie is suspiciously familiar with the battery distribution system and seems to have full control of it. He may be the system itself but presented himself as a hidden child to Poppy to get her cooperation, or Poppy had him pretend to be a hidden child.

I am simply impressed by Chapter 3 as a whole. Mob did such an amazing job, the MASSIVE LEAP in quality was not what I was expecting at all.

I have two predictions 1. Ollie is a toy and his full name is a reference to the phrase “olly olly oxen free”, which is used in hide and seek similarly to “come out come out wherever you are.” I think Ollie is the toy phone, his vocal performance gives Dora the Explorer so maybe he was a toy associated with a kids TV show.
2. The Prototype was a prototype grab pack, given the long arm. Perhaps the grab packs were a sort of predecessor to the idea of turning workers into toys.
