ADDITIONAL REVIEW NOTES:
AirPods 3 Review

What’s New?
Similar to AP Pro but open design like the AP2
33% shorter stem
Magsafe on case
AdaptiveEQ, Spatial Audio, Force sensors,

DESIGN
Fit/comfort: these can be nice but they are not customizable
I can wear them for a while but if they are not perfectly placed, my ears hurt after about two hours
These are sort of more secure than the AP Pro for me (left bud always slips out if I am talking on the phone)
Now an optical skin sensor for more accurate auto play/pause
This is a nice thing I didn’t even know I needed
Vents for sound and mics
Lightning on case, but also MagSafe and Qi charging
IPX4 resistant (mediocre for buds)
Case is also IPX4 (that is cool)
6/30 hour battery (good but without ANC I kind of expected better)
Aesthetics??

AUDIO QUALITY
Bluetooth 5.0
Mono mode works just fine
Can’t really customize EQ easily
Can easily be altered by the way you wear these
Adaptive EQ
Very little isolation (no transparency mode of course)
More spatious and airy
Pretty nice clarity and nice bass, although it is
The vocals from The Weeknd in Kanye’s song Hurricane are vibrant and lively
In Color by My Morning Jacket sounds warm and rich
You can hear his hand sliding on the guitar, but the instrument and vocal separation gets weak in the chorus
Overall pretty nice balance
You lose some low level detail on the cymbals and hihats
The open design has me listening at a slightly higher volume and I am someone who never does that. If you are hard of hearing, these might not be the loudest pick

SOUND BLEED?

MICROPHONE TEST

PROS
Open ear design
Shorter stem to match the pros
Smaller case with magsafe
Good sound quality (much better than almost all open earbuds)
Simple earbuds that just work
Can listen with wet ears (e.g. after shower, swim workout, etc.)

CONS
Cannot customize much with controls, fit, or EQ
No volume controls
Terrible isolation
Very high pitch ringing in the left bud
Pretty pricey for what you get in 2021/2022
Only one color

CONCLUSION
Although there are better deals out there, these are sort of in a class of their own. Besides the AirPods 3, there are not really that many premium open ear buds that fit well and sound as good as these. For anyone seeking an open ear design because you have sweaty ears, hate the feeling of silicone tips, or just want something that is quick, clean, and easy to use, these are the perfect solution you have been waiting for since the AirPods 2 came out.
These feel like a great pair of earbuds that lack many of the standard features we’re used to today like control customization, EQ, better water resistance, or lower prices. If you are not a feature junkie and just want a pair of buds that just work and have an open design, these are awesome.

Hey what's up comment section??! How do we feel about these new airpods? For silicone eartip lovers, there are way better earbuds for a fraction of the price, but if you dig the open ear design, what alternatives are this good? Don't say Microsoft Surface Buds 😂

i usually find that silicon ear tips can put too much pressure in my ears and head from the suction. since my ear holes are very small and tips are generally too big i end up constantly shoving them in to keep them from falling which in turn makes it feel like im on a plane with the pressure especially when running. open ear buds are so much more comfortable for me!

Such a shame I wanted these to replace my AirPods Pro’s. The sound is great but they just won’t stay in my left ear. I have the same problem with the pros but at least I can feel them working loose.

My ears are just not friendly with ANY silicone earbuds, this one seems suitable for me

They have just arrived, and... They're GREAT. In my ear, that never fitted silicon tips, this upgrade is amazing.
I'm completely used to the wired airpods (2nd gen, not the firsts one) and I really love them, since the very first time I've used them (with the iPhone 5s).
This AirPods are my first tws apple earphones, and they're astonishing good. The bass is superb, the top volume is irrational, and they fit like a glove.
If you're used to the original airpods, and you notice a little play, this ones will fit a bit better and that play is going to be erased.
If you're into silicon tips, just go for the pro. But I rather save 80 bucks

After listening to these I can’t believe how bad my AirPods 2 sounded. Huge improvement. Unfortunately, they hurt my ears a bit. Hopefully I’ll adjust.

180 bucks. Bluetooth 5.0. Really Apple? I mean, there's people buying the cleaning cloth that's not even officially out yet and it's backed out by two months. So, I guess, there's an audience for stuff like this.

I bought the AirPods 3, and I didn’t like how they felt in my ear, didn’t feel very secure, I returned them and went back to my AirPods 1st gen

I have never in my life had an earbud continue playing after I took it out. Even the first gen and “second” gen AirPods don’t do that…

“People won’t be buying these for sound, they will buy them for fit and comfort”
I think what you meant to say was for aesthetics. They wanna look like they were using a-tips and got lazy. “Comfort” doesn’t justify $180 price tag.

I thought it would be a perfect fit for me because the gen 2 kept falling out my ear. But when i tried it; it was quite huge for my ear there’s no sweet spot.

Would you recommend this over the buds 2 or buds pro? in terms of sound quality?

These fit my ears so much better than the 1st and second generation do. Those always felt like they were going to fall out. These feel nice and secure in my ears, and don’t feel like they’re going to fall out every time I turn my head.

Yesterday I had lunch while listening to music with these. As I started chewing, the airpods starting slipping out of my ear. Everyone's ears are different so not everyone will experience this..but for me...the fit is way off. The airpods 2nd gen fit me perfectly btw.

I can't believe people buy the same products every year rebranded... I guess it's just a trend

I changed from the airpods to the pros….the regular airpods were more comfortable for me. I’m glad to hear Apple made some positive changes…..I will probably get the regular airpods next go around. Thanks for the review and information

Now the issue is, there’s a problem on the 3’s that there’s a high pitch ringing noise when not listening to anything. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

I have the AirPod 2nd gen and upgraded to the pros just this Monday. I tried my cousins airpods 3 and they weren’t bad. I rarely use mine either way so battery life wasn’t a problem. I definitely like the features on the pros. But noise canceling doesn’t seem that good as everyone described. But idk either, it’s only been like 3 hours of total use since Monday
