President Trump pushes for Air Force One makeover

Air Force One is an iconic symbol of the American presidency, but President Trump reportedly wants to update the design on the jet with a "more American" look. The current colors date back to the early 1960s. Ten presidents before Mr. Trump traveled with the same design. From outside the White House, Kris Van Cleave reports.

I think it would be a huge mistake to change the iconic and classic, recognizable livery to Air Force One. This is one of the few traditions that remain and it represents a lineage for the presidency. The design came from one of the best periods in US history which was right about at the start of the 1960s and it is reminiscent of the Pan Am terminal at JFK airport and some of the best designs of America's mid-century. The design looks very professional and presidential. And not gaudy or garish. Eleven presidents have used this livery. It's really an American tradition.

Messing around with that is dangerous, it’s hard to spot with that color scheme but the flag colors would make it apt easier to spot and for others to target
