The fact that its -2 setting switches to that range setting when in polyphonic mode is so disappointing. Honestly a dealbreaker for me buying this pedal. Is there a technical limitation that prevents polyphonic mode from covering -2? If not this is a huge letdown.

Wazacraft series are clones, using the same circuitry as the vintage models. Since the OC-2 uses discrete circuits made up of analog op amps and flip flops, and the new OC-5 is all digital, I don't think Boss could put the Wazacraft logo on the OC-5.

The OC5 eats batteries, you will want a PSU on it. All the time, it can drain a 9V in a couple of hours.
The OC5 wants to be first in the chain, this is not engraved in stone.
You will probably want it to drive an OD.
If you put it through a Wah, you probably already know a Wah changes a lot whether the OD is in front or behind. The OC5 can overdrive a Wah on its own. Put a different OD fore and aft of the Wah. Then tone shaping, Fuzz, Distortion, whatever.
It is not a substitute for a bass guitar but can fill in. This is why the OC5 has a bass guitar mode, and two outputs as bi-amping suits bass.
