Star Citizen launcher crash upon install FIX 11/25/2021

This bug happend to myself, my girlfriend and my brother and the VPN Method Worked for us,
we do live in the US and not in some crazy country where the game could have been banned.

Just got this issues when 3.17.4 dropped. Game was FINE before! Never had this issue and been playing for YEARS. Tried a fresh install of the game, no luck. Tried someone's registry modification, no luck. But a damn VPN (free Proton one, thanks Drew for your comment) is letting it work so far... just 65GBs to go. Do I need the VPN to play the game too now or just for to get updates to install? Damn CIG and their squirrelly code and Issue Council that never gets things fixed. This video is a year old!

Unfortunately this didn’t work for mine. How is this still an issue considering there are people posting about this issue from 2018, didn’t this game make *millions* in funding and it’s *literally* unplayable in this state…

Bought a $2k gaming tower just to play this damn game, and STILL get this same crash. Will try the VPN fix tomorrow. Do you need to keep using the VPN just to play the game, after the install fix?

Seems to be an issue with certain routing ports, which VPNs tend to address upon installation. That said, I use NordVPN and still have this issue so it may be some particular servers or settings or something. So annoying man...

I am currently trying ProtonVPN (which is free) and I chose server #34 US and so far my launcher has stayed open for a while now which I'm assuming it means it works... the only problem is the download is incredibly slow at 1mb/s but its better than paying money for a VPN/no download at all...

Side note nvm, turns out I was on 2G not 5G which was causing my speeds to be so slow at about 20mb/s now

Gonna try this when I get home. I've had the same issue. I haven't been able to play for months. Tech support wasn't able to help me. I got a brand new laptop and tried to install it last night and same thing. Launcher crashed.

What fix mine was change the folder location C/Games/SC

wierd thing that you need to be in the san fransisco/jose area for this to work, ive tried it with other locations in the us, its almost exclusively west coast capable for some odd reason(specifically san fransisco area)
