Why arrest her? They will just release her a couple hours later AGAIN. Nothing will happen until she does something horrible to a child. When did having mental issues or addiction issues become a free pass to terrorize people or in some cases commit crimes?

The overcorrection made trying to protect the rights of people regarding mental health care failed to take inti account that there are those for whom freedom to make any choice they want is nothing but neglect, because they cannot make informed choices to keep themselves, or others, safe. This needs to be revisited and corrected with supervision and appeals but with mandatory intervention for those that cannot function safely.

The mom wants something done, and at the same time wants to see her helped and become a "success story". Sometimes those things are no longer the same. Some people are just defective units.

Once arrested she will be asked if she would like mental help services and she will say no thank you, and will be released, and the cycle will continue until harm comes, when everyone will be surprised.

Welcome to San Francisco. The one lady said that something needs to change to get the woman in question off of the streets. Voting differently just might do that.
