Omar, I remember I first heard this remix of Rationale's "Fast Lane" over a year ago as I was finishing up a two-year volunteer project in Eastern Europe. From 2015 to 2017, that village I worked at became my home, and so much has changed in my life in those two years. I remember I was getting ready to leave that home this time last year, I took my final bus ride to the capital city and listened to this song on that last ride. "Holding back the tears on the last train homeward bound, " "see the city pass by as I'm looking at the glass, see my mind's still here but my heart's in the past." Those final days abroad were some of the most precious memories of my life, but there was the residual fear of dealing with my life after the fact and all the challenges that awaited me once I got back home. It's been a year now since I left my village in Eastern Europe ("I found a place they'd never find me when it's all said, and done for that matter, I dust my hands off, never too much, Luther Vandross"). This past year has been the worst year of my life, I got no job, there's been so much heartache and personal loss in my family too, and I turned 27 a few months ago ("It's been 27 years and you've only now just figured out how"). Seriously, every lyric in this songs really hits home hard, it brings a tear to my eye every time I listen to it, this song is a solid reminder of everything I've been through these past few years and motivates me to keep moving forward until I find my way. Thank you for this song.

Just imagine you're in a tank, comfortable sundress driving fast down a peaceful highway, in the summertime during the evening/night. You're surrounded by your two best friends in the car, and an awesome guy. The car is a convertible and you're all having an amazing time, just sitting with your hair getting all whipped by the messy warm breeze. You're all listening to this song on full volume and you could be laughing. Just a vision I have as I listen to this song. It's a nostalgic memory I've never even experienced.
