Awesome drill Karl! I love working on "spot shots" and I find that type of shot comes up all the time during games and is easily missed if not given the respect it deserves. One speed control drill that I like to work on is to have a ball on the spot, pocket it from behind the head string from various positions and see how close I can get the cue ball to come around and rest on the end rail. I find it's a good two-way drill because if you miss the pot, at least you're leaving your opponent tough, and also making the shot from different positions with varied thickness on the hits is really good for speed control on long shots. Keep the videos coming man, we all greatly appreciate the knowledge!

Just 2 days ago i did this drill. It is amazing! It also shows you that you don’t need a lot of side spin to get the right position.

This is an excellent drill because as you mention, these shots come up all the time in 9-ball. Amateurs selling out on the 8 or 9 is an issue. Drill I like to do is tossing the 5-9 balls on the table and practice running them out. At the amateur level, if you can consistently runout the 5 through 9, you'll win a lot more than lose.

Great drill, one of my fav, very relaxing too.
Another option: put a third ball in the center and it will be the third ball to shoot in order.

I would appreciate if you could also say something about the shot selection for this drill. Depending on the position of the cue ball - what is the right shot choice and why?

I think placing the 8 and 9 one string lower to the rail on both ends is more typical. Very rarely does the 9 ball sit inside the rack area when closing out. Good drill though
