I saw a comment by Dadi590 in my notification but cannot see here, the question was, "why the transistor was removed"? The reason is, we are trying to find the Thevenin's equivalent circuit of the elements other than the transistor. In order to find that, we need to remove the transistor with an open circuit. Whatever portion of the circuit's Thevenin's equivalent we want to find we need to keep that part "intact" and get rid of the the "remaining" part (in this case an element) with an open circuit. The idea is to replace the "intact" part with only one voltage source and one resistor, so that it supplies same current to the "remaining" part (element) of the circuit. In this example transistor is the "remaining" part so we remove that with an open circuit.
