Kaya is a Coconut jam, also known as "jem kaya" is a sweet jam made from a base of coconut milk, eggs and sugar. There is also kaya mixed with pandan leaf extract.

Usually, we also eat kaya with bread or cookies in morning.

Another meaning of the word "kaya" is something about financially rich and non financially rich.

If any Muslim want to buy food or drink that is cooked or prepared on the street or restaurant, buy it from a merchant who is confirmed to be Muslim because we are advised to look for Halalan Toyyiban

But if you want ready-packaged or canned food, make sure there is a halal mark from the responsible body in Malaysia which is JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia / Malaysia Islamic Development Department)
