Few people know this but Edd's less talkative dive buddy, Mutt Sorsenson, is an accomplished freediver and has rescued two ducks and an old shoe.

The only thing I don’t like about Edd is that he hasn’t told the stories of ALL his successful rescues on here! What an amazingly gifted human being. And he does it all out of his own pocket when he travels to rescue someone.

I went down a rabbit hole a couple years ago when I drove by vortex spring and watched a documentary on it. Come to find out Edd has done recoveries in both a cave in Fl that I’ve lived by for many years and a cave in Tennessee I’ve lived by for many years. I got like a fanboy obsession with this dudes work. He’s total grit.

With all due respect to Edd I do know what I’d do. I’d never be in that situation to begin with. Thank god for people like Edd who risk their lives to bring back people.

100% disabled veteran here. I just started diving and absolutely love it. Watching every single video on scuba I can find. This sport definitely demands a level of respect and appreciation unlike any other. But I’ve learned a funny thing. My PTSD almost completely vanishes when I’m underwater. I fully intend to make it to Florida this winter to continue collecting different certifications. I can’t afford a rebreather or the training for it quite yet. But I’m definitely going to visit Edd and Stacy if just to shake their hands. Both are absolute legends.

I had good open water instructors. For our out of air drill, they split the class into two groups and told the first group they wanted to test our fitness by having us swim an underwater relay race in full gear. Then they pulled those of us in the second group aside and told us that was bullshit. When the guys in the first group came sprinting back to tag us after 50 meters at full speed tired and out of breath, we were supposed to signal out of air and try to get them to share their air with us. Much more realistic.
