Gas prices across the United States are on the rise with the national average for a gallon at $3.67, while some towns in California are seeing prices surge to more than $7 a gallon. NBC’s Christine Romans joins TODAY with what’s behind the steady increase.

Raising the price of gas is actually a good thing. Okay, I know - people are going to scream about this. But higher gas prices mean less sue, waste and less pollution. Our planet cannot take anymore global warming. Vote blue this November - it's imperative to keep the green movement going. We cannot sustain the carbon emissions, nor the consumerism that is depleting planet.

Gas prices were low because during covid demand was so low oil got down to 11 a barrel. They had a glut of oil with no place to store it.
