Tech Talk: Electric VS Acoustic strings on the Virtuo

Designed to be the ultimate stage and studio guitar to cover all the tones you need, the Emerald Virtuo combines a slimline hollow body with both acoustic and electric guitar pickups(along with MIDI capabilities) to deliver a wealth of tones.

Join Alistair and Davy as they take us through the differences in tone and playability between using standard electric guitar strings and the special Newtone Double wound acoustic strings on the Virtuo. Davy shows us the different tones both acoustically and across the pickups on each set of strings.

I did exactly this test when I got my Newtones.
I keep the Newtone acoustics on my Virtuo.

Nyxl 12s- they have a lovely acoustic sound.

I'd love to try one of these, exactly that plain black one, and I'd love to try it with Martin Marquis Silk and steels, they're soft and not much heavier than electric, 11 to 47, can swap the 2 unwound to 9 or 10 and swap the silk wrap on the plains to the new ones. (I already take old silk wraps for my plain steel strings in my la bella sets for my guitar that needs the larger low e)

Would cleartone 10-52 strings work well on the Virtuo? I love their strings but have always used 10-46 but for my Virtuo I think I should go with the 10-52 like you recommended.

Did you have to adjust intonation for the acoustic strings? My Newtones arrived today, looking forward to winding them on.

Hi guys…were you using the same gauge strings in each of these demos? These videos are super helpful! As an owner of an X10 and an X20, I suppose I could try electric strings on the X10 as well? Another question is does changing string gauge affect the Pleck process done initially on the quitar? I assume lighter electric strings have less tension but that assumption could be incorrect……

What about phosphor bronze acoustic strings? Will they work with the magnetic pickups?

What I was most curious to hear was a Virtuo with Newtones and playing lead electric....I am assuming since the Newtones sound so good acoustically they leave something to be desired for lead and crunch type applications.

What were the gauges if the sets you used?
