I Bought A FAKE BETA 58A From AliExpress

Recently I was looking on AliExpress for some parts for an upcoming Project. As I was browsing I ran across a "Beta 58A" microphone for $20. I know this was a knock off copy of a Shure Beta 58A, but for $20 I was compelled to buy it. What can I say, it head shotted my curiosity.

I think you got it mix up. pretty sure the matte one is the original. I've watched other videos. all of them said that the matte grill one is the original and shiny one is a fake one.

The ORIGINAL Shure beta also comes with the bag that has SHURE BETA label on the outside but the inner lining is white. I bought the original from an authorized dealer here.

What most people aren't taking into account...the "shine" comes from years of handling. Also shure uses thick gauge wire for thier grilles. It's very easy to see imo.

I have some Shure microphones and I am confused here, i think maybe by accident you mix them up, i think the mate one is the original, mine is mate too,

I bought a BETA58A on SHEIN for $12.00 approx. And I was hoping that it was a mistake in price, as they are a Fast Fashion store? Mine has a lot of Red flags in person..this one says, BETA58A, but not anywhere does it say, SHURE. But everything else is SHURE original, the weight is the same, the blue band is a darker tone. It includes a 180" wired cord. It comes in the black zippered pouch too and the Mic clip is professional SHURE-looking too! 🤔 The Mic though, does not say SHURE, it says Microphone instead with BETA58A underneath it!

I agree with earlier comments, the captions have been swapped.. @5:03 I experienced using this mic, the one on right hand is definitely the genuine one (not shiny grille).
@10:41, you accidentally swapped their grilles @8:57 and forgot to return it? Right is the genuine one, easy to tell the quality of decal engraving and the body color is correct, it is not supposed to be thick painted dark.

Sir, I think you've accidentally switched them around somehow.. The fake mics can be spotted a mile away by the thin'ish grill's they have. Original shure mics have the thicker wire on the grills. You'll see it clearly at 10:40. Also, the blue ribbon on the real shure's are light blue, the fakes use a pale blue ribbon 10:44. Another test you can do is side rejection. The REAL beta58 will have more side rejection than a fake.

And the 3 holes at the bottom of your mic ..my authentic only had two screw holes

That’s tough man, in my experience (having both the real beta 58 and knockoffs confirmed by Shure, I would have guessed for sure that the shorter less shiny mic was the authentic . This bothers me even more, these counterfeiters are relentless

The real Beta 58 grille has a concave ring at the bottom where it screws onto the handle of the mic. The fake is straight.

Got your covers mixed up... without question the flat matte cover is real.. Also the fake one is deeper teal color... the real one has a x-ed through recycle can inside the xlr opening with the 3 pins.

The reason I know you got your grilles mixed up is that the one at the right on the bottom has 2 holes. One for screw, one for the XLR spring loaded clip. The fakes have 3 Giles, an extra one in-between the two. I think at some point you realised, and made sure the holes on the fake weren't shown.

mine is real. the shure beta bag is white and smooth on the inside and the made in china tag tells me it is authentic.

You definitely got them mixed up. Just shows how good the fake is. I suggest you weigh them both. The fake one will be lighter.

I’m in Japan and just accidentally bought one of these fakes second hand. Shure Japan won’t even confirm or deny its authenticity so I’ll just have to lie and say I’m in the USA for my next support email I guess 🤷
