MQA is like grading your own test. Notice Tidal is the only one that has "MQA" Qobus actually has 192, 000 kHz tracks. The sound quality is better with Qobuz.

Very down to earth stance on what MQA is. I like the fact that you didn't try to prove or defend one side whether MQA was the so called more "correct" way to listen to music or not. This makes individuals decide that for themselves. I respect that! Kudos

Cant say I'm the biggest fan of MQA, it is a lossy format and requires additional hardware to get the full benefit. Qobuz and Amazon offer native hi-rez which requires no additional decoding hardware and is completely lossless.

In a good system you can hear MQA failings, folding down is compressing, compressing and compressing, its a lossy file were all data above 20Khz is lost, you may not hear above 20Khz but it adds to the music structure, band width and storage is now cheap so why do we need compressed files, why? well its a money making scheme for Bob and Warner, if unsure test against a Qobuz 192, or a CD via a non MQA DAC

Now tidal are pushing MQA red book CD files 44.1, but provide you with a lossy compressed file below CD quality, my advise ditch Tidal move to Qobuz.

MQA = A solution to a problem that doesn't exist. The science doesn't lie.

Yup you have got to lower your intro music, way too loud just about blew out my speakers. Good content . I use a Node2i . Great for tidal, and ripped CDs. When I want to have a CD quality file and will buy from qobuz, cheaper that buying a lossy file from Amazon or iTunes, than burn them to a CD.

Nice breakdown video about MQA. I don't hate MQA. I just don't have the right equipment to use it right now and I'm satisfied with CD quality FLACs anyway

Mqa is a lossy format with clever algorithms doing clever upsampling. As long as you are aware they are changing how you listen it's fine I guess. It's not lossless for sure

To be very honest, I got very enthusiastic about Tidal the first two weeks, the possibility of not having any physical media anymore, OMG!!! then I decided to equalize a song that was lacking bass, it was a disaster I never experienced that before, the bottom line is that I think CDs still rock! Just to be clear, the disastrous song was a master!

I can tell a significant difference with MQA but I know a lot of people really don't like the format. It depends on the original masters as well as your system and your ears but for me, it's worth paying attention to.

Keep in mind the 192000 kHz is "time" and the amount of samples and not the sound that you are hearing.

Great video Mike! I really enjoyed it. I am going to be getting the new Cambridge Audio 200M DAC. I has MQA capability. Going to try it with Tidal. I have been streaming a lot lately via my Amazon Fire Cube. I have been listening to a lot of FLAC 24bit 96kHz, and 24bit 192kHz on Amazon Music HD. Sounds awesome!

Great informational video but I got to say that opening scared the hell out of me. I much prefer your other opening. Just one person's opinion in the peanut gallery!🙄🤔🤭😇 The other opening had almost like spooky nature to it this one just out of nowhere hits you over the head with a hammer.🙄😇

it’s like having a 4K movie player and my tv is 1080p
We have to get like $4, 000 speakers $5, 000 amplifier and MQA $3, 000 WTF 😂 like he said not much of a difference from a CD this is only for people that are rich 🤑 and have expensive hobbies…. And then I LOVE JAZZ KNOW you only try to love it because we are fake audiophile the truth hurts 😫 Wait and then I know about music I listen to Jazz like DUKE AND MILES DAVIS 😂 we are funny

Until I dont have to struggle to notice a difference then it is not for me. I like my DACs and Amps that cost less because they dont have these made up labels.
