It’s amazing how one day can change so much.

Magnus went onboard Nutshell to do some work. He put the kettle on and then came on deck to check the mooring line.

This little act saved his life.

The important thing is that you are Ok. The rebuild will be an adventure in its self. On a positive note this happened in your back yard and not out at sea. Think positive and count your blessings. Nutshell will rise out of the ashes like the Phenix and go on to more exiting adventures.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. God was looking after you if you didn't go outside when you made your cuppa you would of been injured or killed. I can't believe the damage it has caused. What a bummer. That sucks so much. But we Aussies are so tough and I know you will rebuild her even better than what she was before. My love and prayers go out to you and your wife.

I am so happy you are both ok. I am so so sorry about the boat. I can't imagine how frightening that was - or how overwhelmed you both must be feeling. Thank you as always for sharing. My thoughts are with you - and of course you're already talking about rebuilding. I'd expect nothing less.

Thank goodness you're okay and the boat didn't catch fire or start taking on water. Wild.
It's also a good reminder to for the rest of us to take care with propane and other fuel sources, have leak alarms and good ventilation.

If there's one man I know can put that boat and its gas system safely back together Magnus, it's you! Just be thankful you weren't serioulsy hurt (maybe some skids eh) and Wendy wasn't on board, your boat wasn't burnt out and it didn't sink!! At least it will now be put together safe. This could have happened during a future crossing 1000s of miles from anywhere so it's a good thing the fault was exposed now!!! I'm glad your safe!!

Gosh, I didn't recognize you at first! We met in La Paz, Mexico and you generously gave me advise on my spinnikkar and my Fleming wind vane (something that still defeats me :)) on Moonrise (our CAL34). We are now in Huatulco, Mexico, doing a full rebuild of engine and gearbox, using the delay necessitated by the quarantine. So relieved that you survived that nasty explosion unscathed - it is every sailors worst nightmare.

Magnus my man. First time watching... bloody hell mate. It's tough to see a grown man cry can't imagine the shock....so glad you are ok. So sorry about your boat... obviously God was not ready for you yet...guess he has plans for you...my prayers go out to you ...stay safe ...
