Lousy pay, fighting students causing chaos, and attacks on drivers. What's good about this job?

I went to become a bus driver for one of my local school districts while they were in dire need of drivers, they literally sent me home for being one minute late for my shift! That kinda got me wondering just why that particular district is so understaffed.

I'm a former Female CDL Driver of 13 years (ironically I drove a Bus for one of the Companies featured in this video). Unfortunately, I have ZERO desire to get back behind the wheel of a commercial vehicle again. ZERO!!! Too many problems that come with the Trade.

I’ve always thought the bus systems are antiquated. There should be a system with smaller electric vans, less stops, and the vans can be used at night for deliveries. The seats should be able to be adjusted to come down like in a minivan . You won’t need a cdl and it’s less headache for the kids. In a few stops it’s all done

Okay who is ready for a job with split shifts where you get nonstop abuse and people record it on their smartphones and upload it to YouTube? You must qualify for the license class B with passenger endorsement and school bus certificate

Bus drivers are essential workers is because they transport children to, and from school if they want do it who else will parents? I do understand that some parents cannot take their children to school let alone pick them up at the end of the day that cause a hardship on them because some parents have to work. Maybe, if they get creative by giving the bus drivers a decent salary that might help by attracting more candidates for the position.

There was a bus driver shortage this year in my school bus company We Transport Inc Hempstead Yard
My bus route is full of too many kids on a 6 row bus with 5 chairs on each side and there are 17 kids on my bus route which is over the maximum of the amount of kids on each special education bus route, We Transport Bus Company opened a new yard in Garden City Last Month In March and 2 weeks ago, We Transport hired new drivers and matrons for garden city yard and as of tomorrow Wednesday May 1st when we go back to school from spring break, The Valley Stream School district split my route into 2. Me and 6 other kids will be going to Bus 21 with Ehsan the bus driver from Garden City Yard and the other 10 kids will stay on the normal Bus 64 with James The Bus driver from Hempstead Yard for the remainder of the school year
