First movement from Fantasia in G minor, TWV 33:8

Georg Philipp Telemann published three sets of Fantasies pour le clavessin (Fantasias for the Harpsichord), each containing a dozen pieces. Like J. S. Bach's Italian Concerto and French Overture, written around the same time, these pieces were designed to illustrate the differences between the fashionable French and Italian styles of the day. This piece is taken from the first dozen, which is written in the Italian style, as is the third dozen. The second dozen is written in the French style.
