Literal thinking is so relatable, I'm aware to it but for some reason still can't answer those questions normally

It's like hey don't ask me what I did if you don't want the play-by-play

Someone asks what your favorite book is, and you have to go into your mind palace to make a tier list of every book you've ever enjoyed.

That’s how I am with my adhd I wanna tell them everything

my best friend is like that. i'll ask her a short and simple question, and she'll go on and on about it for as long as she has. and every time, i just sit there and soak up every word she's saying, occasionally providing small reactions so she knows i'm listening. i love watching her light up and get so passionate about something most people consider boring or useless. it makes me so happy to see and know that she's even happier. i don't talk a lot because i've had way too many times where people tell me i'm annoying and talk too much, and i should just shut up for a bit. i wouldn't be able to live with myself if i did that to her. i never want to see her lose that spark.

It took me 35 years to realize that people don't want a real answer when they ask, "How are you?" They want a positive one word answer and to be asked so they can answer the same thing. When I ask, it's because I care for the answer. This fact still bugs me months later.

"I woke up and played on my phone a bit..." You just described me this morning

After being known for my sometimes ridiculously long texts to family members, and spending large chunks of time sending good morning, and goodnight texts to my "regulars, " not to mention feeling some anxiety if something interesting in my life happens, but I can't get to my phone to text and let all of my regulars know about it, recently occurred to me that I do not have to inform absolutely everyone about absolutely everything, and I reminded myself that I am NOT the "town cryer, " nor do I have the responsibility for keeping everyone informed as to everything that's going on! It's a relief, and I rather suspect that my close contacts won't mind hearing a little less from me!
I'm a senior citizen, a great-grandmother, and was only last week confirmed as being adult ADHD! THESE VIDEOS HAVE WORKED WONDERS IN HELPING ME UNDERSTAND A LOT OF THE CRAZY AND FRUSTRATING THINGS I HAVE DONE ALL OF MY LIFE!!

I believe my best friend is one of these lol. He asks "what did you do today?" I say "nothing" because i didn't do anything "special" to speak of. He says "you can't possibly have done NOTHING the whole day!" I say "oh i COULD! But if you really want to hear about every dish i washed and diaper i changed then let's do it!" 😂😂😂😂😂

I’ve learned that people don’t like to hear about detailed recaps like that, but that’s how I would 100% prefer to tell about my day.

My friend asked me what my book was about…I went on for over an hour explaining the plot, characters, backstories, and sub-plot romance. Heh.

I have a story for literally everything. These stories are also extremely detailed. It can be exhausting for those listening. Close friends always ask me for the Reader's Digest version. This just stops the story cuz I don't know how to continue from that point in the story. Cuz my brain goes "great which detail do I eliminate". 😢

My go-to answer whenever someone asks me “What’s up?” is simply “The sun/ceiling.”

Another thing is too is that my dad always likes to tease me and I can never tell if he’s actually made at me or if he’s just kidding around. Yay ADHD

I was watching and was like “omg that’s so relatable lol” then I looked down at the caption and saw ADHD and I was like “oh… I got called out again”

I've got something that prevents me from doing that! It's called social anxiety...
