Recommend feeding your coal conveyor belt into several linked industrial storage containers so if you ever do something later that breaks your coal feed, you have plenty of coal to keep your plants going while you fix your coal feed.

Also if possible, recommend setting up your generators at the water level so you don't need pumps to push the water up vertically. Each water pump is eating up a percentage of the power that your coal generators are producing.

It's a pretty good setup but the "pipeline pumps" really aren't needed. Just build the plants a little closer to the water and save some materials/power.

Thank you so much. In the beggining, I was struggling a lot to set up for a right amount of coal / water, up until I watched your video. With some small tweaks here and there, I managed to get my own generators get up and running, cheers :)

Thanks man, 90 hours in never managed to do one of these property, I will be efficient from now on, thanks a lot.

A little heads-up: Make sure to use mk.2 conveyor belts if you're using more than 4 coal generators because otherwise you won't be able to feed all of them with coal.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. New player here, and I was more than a little concerned about how to begin setting one of these up. I'll follow your directions and hopefully stop running all over the place with the chainsaw :)

For the people interested in the numbers, it consumes 98.3 MW when i have 3 miner mk 1's on pure nodes, and produces 600 MW of power.
Also thnx for the guide it helped a lot

A very nice design, I like the simplicity and the aesthetics of it!

One thing that I've found that could improve it however is that a tier one pipe can move 300 units/min of water while the coal plants take 45/min, so you could comfortably run up to 6 coal plants on a tier 1 pipe, though that requires 2.5 water extractors. So, with 5 water extractors, and using pumps as one way valves to evenly split the flow from our 5th extractor, we can feed an array of 12 generators. This does mean you need to have 180 coal/min, so you may need to bring in extra resources via a second belt line.

I prefer building a platform over the water with a raised floor for the coal generators, putting the splitters and power distribution underneath. No need for pumps

Its nice, but the OCD part of me could deal with the belts clipping through the pipes

tip you only need mark 1 belts going into the coal generators it is a small material save but in my playthrough i didn't have a very fast reinforced plate setup yet so i helped alot because if i didn't i have to wait a while

Good Video!
I would just change one thing: Place the water extractors and the pipelines in a way, so that they are not in the way when you want to expand the build with additional coal generators. So maybe place the water extractors behind the coal generators and feed the pipelines in from the left side.

If you build coal plants above water extractors you can fit a lot more into a smaller area. I just finished my 64-generator plant at the tiny lake near the west of the map

Good tutorial video. Two things to add though if you want to improve efficiency. First you don't need the pumps if you build the generators close to the water, the water extractors have some innate head lift. Second, you need only 3 water extractors / 8 generators. Build the pipe in the long U shape (so do connect them), with two water extractors feeding one end and one the other end.

Thanks man, I was just doing it from 1, 5 km apart from all the resources 😅 know I now wat to do 😌

Awesome!
Helped me out a lot. Easy enough to copy

I diid an identical setup but everything on water level so that I don;t have to use pumps. I have conveyer bellt Mk2 everywhere but still I can't manage to feed all the generator fast enough with the coal! So it is not self sufficient yet. Any idea why this happens? Any recommendation to boost the coal feed in all the generators?

very usefull video, probably the top 1 best about coal generator around

I followed the video exactly but not the pipes are too low to fit any belts under it. How did you manage to get the belts under the pipes?
