Microbial identification systems play an important role in identifying potentially harmful bacteria, yeast, and fungi. Levels of automation for microbial identification systems range from manual procedures to fully automated instruments; depending on the application, organisms can be identified in great detail.
The Antibiotic Susceptibility Testing is an in vitro test of the sensitivity of a bacteria to one or more antibiotics by the diffusion technique on agar media. Its purpose is to guide the clinician in the choice of an antibiotic to treat a bacterial infection and to use the data for monitoring bacterial resistance to antibiotics.
