Balos Beach in Chania

Is one of Greece’s most well-known lagoons, located on the west side of the Gramvousa Peninsula.

Its shallow, warm waters make it a great spot for families with children. While the beach offers some amenities like umbrellas and a small canteen, there are no changing rooms or showers, so visitors should come prepared.

The surrounding ecosystem is part of Natura 2000, protecting 400 plant species 🌿 and over 100 bird species 🦅. The area is also home to rare wildlife, including the Monachus Monachus monk seal and the Caretta Caretta sea turtle 🐢.
