I teach at $45 a half hour when I’m not touring, which is 45 weeks a year, on average. While most of my students are advanced in sight reading and chops, I prepare them on stamina, and how to recover from a brutal 2.5 hour performance. Of course, some of them will be playing jazz or with a symphony, so that steers the a lesson in a different direction. Most people don’t realize to play like Mike Bordin, Ray Luzier, Brandon Pertzborn requires a lot of physical strength. Those guys end a 6 month tour with dozens of cracked cymbals, broken pedals, hundreds of broken sticks, and believe me, even the best miss occasionally and smack the snare and there’s blood everywhere. Not to mention, your ears, even with in-ears will be ringing all the time. Long winded, but teaching performance is my favorite❤
