I like this format. I wouldn't mind seeing something like this once in a while.
If you don't have an iPad, of course I'd say go with the newest model. But if you have an iPad already, you might want to consider the 2020 model.
If you're the type of person that doesn't upgrade every 1 or 2 years but more like 3+ years at a time, when you feel it's about time to get new hardware you might as well (again) go with the newest model since you'd want something to be relevant years down the line.
I'm not surprised that the M1 chip outperforms the 2020 model by a lot. One can presume that the M2 chip will further improve upon it and hopefully improve battery life as well.
