Angela, after planting the onions starts an inch deep would you add mulch or would the mulch effect the ability to bulb?

Also Dixondale indicated the Texas sweet and Texas white varieties can grow 5 or 6 inches, would you also plant nine per square as you have for the Red Creole variety? What do you recommend Thank you
