I'm buying this car for 1 major reason. Hyundai actually cared about how much fun the car is to drive rather than participating in the rediculous HP race between just about any brand producing hot hatches today. For me, the most important thing in a hot hatch should still be how much fun it is to drive on a daily basis. I don't give a shit about whether it has 275 hp, 310 hp or 400 hp.
You buy a hot hatch because you want a sporty car that you will use every day. All other hot hatches seem to have forgotten that on 99.9% of public roads and daily drives you will not use the full potential of these cars. They have put all of their eggs in the basket of hp and that required them to put so much electronic managment in these cars that you feel completely detached from the car as a driver. Thank you, Hyundai, for giving us back the curvy road on hot hatches, rather than a boy racer made for 1/4 mile powertrips. Thank you for understanding that real driving pleasure is found in corners and not in straight lines.

Never thought i would like a Hyundai. Same with the new KIA Stinger GT. The Koreans are coming with some great cars.

Never thought I'd hear an auto journalist say a Hyundai was "way more serious" than a Golf GTI.

Great review Steve. Personally I think this car is a bit special and anyone who dismisses it simply because of the badge will be missing out big time.

Wow! I've always had a soft spot for Hyundai as a company. When I was 6 (very earl 90's) my Grandpa took me with him when he picked up his brand new Hyundai Excel from Frankston Hyundai, 10 years later I learnt to drive in it and then owned a similar age Excel hatch as my 2nd car. This is very cool.

Kudos to Steve & Evo for a proper review of a proper hot hatch, just love the accompanying throttle lift-off pops & bangs. As a BMW M2 owner, I'm keenly interested in this car. Sadly, most BMW M cars since the F80/82 M3/4 has lost their magic. It seemed that Mr.Biermann has done it again, albeit with a different brand. He truly is the man who can use magic and summon a car that's above the sum of its parts - be it E30 E36 E90 M3 or my favorite E82 1M. Guess this Hyundai is BMW 1M's front-wheel-drive stepbrother lol...

I could watch this guy review a fridge and still get thrilled about it

Comparing it with the Megane RS is perhaps the highest praise a hatchback can get.

And from a Hyundai!

Definitely my next car.... was looking at a Golf GTI and I believe this looks a better package. Company I work for has moved from BMW’s to Hyundai’s company cars over the last couple years and have been brilliant, way more reliable.

If steve say it is amazing than no need for me to take drive test before I buy it. .

A great review not biased, clearly Steve was enjoying the drive in the i30 N and this came across in the video. Quality, one of the very best motoring journalists and car enthusiasts out there. Evo reviews are the business.

When EVO says it’s this good, i take notice. I’m blown away that this came from Hyundai. Not because its a Hyundai but because Hyundai has always made good cars that arent that engaging to drive especially their numb steering feel

I just came back home from a test drive. What a maschine! Like Steve said, the front end is just fantastic and the sound very addictive. My Mk7 Fiesta ST feels completely bland afterwards. The Recaros are superior though ;)

Pucker little car that, looks like a Golf R and sounds like a MK3 Focus RS. Can’t wait to drive one for our channel. It has some tough competition but for the price it’s a winner for sure.
