I wouldn't be me if I didn't take a shot at one of the best cross-fandom editing trends of my favorite superhero, so here goes.

** PERSONAL STORY TIME ** (8/9/2022)

For starters, what I can say is that not many movies have managed to bring me to tears. In fact, there aren't any at all that have managed to make me full-on cry. But the death of Gwen Stacy in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' was definitely a very close first. The chemistry they had, they way it all just happened, the fact that Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone were together in real life... Just so many little things that added up, including the conflict & later resolution they had in the movie itself, all for it to be taken away in a very avoidable way. I don't think I realized how much I was a fan of their whole dynamic until I was forced to understand that it could also be taken away.

It was also one of the things that helped me understand character death as a writer, and how sometimes it's necessary in order to move on in the development of the character or story.

Moving on to the fate of the franchise: Like anyone else, I wasn't a fan of the idea of starting over. I would've rather had a Sam Raimi 'Spider-Man 4' than a new Spidey altogether, but once I watched the film for the first time and the different direction it took, I guess you could say I had a whole new appreciation for the opportunities given in reboots. I thought that Andrew was a better look for the role, the suit was unique, and his acting/writing as both Peter & Spidey were perfect. It was a superior fandom, in my book, and therefore my favorite. With that being said, you can only imagine my outrage when I learned that the third installment wasn't happening over such trivial matters.

The quality of the sequel is a different conversation that we don't need to have, but despite everything that it had going on, I thought it was a masterpiece. Right on a par with the original, if not better.

Anywho, The Amazing Spider-Man franchise had an opportunity to be saved, if you were to ask me. All it took was one great execution of the third installment, but it was stripped away! Leaving behind a bad taste in the mouths of the fanbase. And as a result, the entire franchise was dogged out. Andrew wasn't favored as a Spidey, the first film started receiving less of it's deserved recognition, and overall it was defaulted to the inferior of the three iterations. Can't say I was a fan of that at all. So you can only IMAGINE; my relief & utmost appreciation when the continuity got it's redemption in Spider-Man: No Way Home with the story of Peter 3!

I only see positive things up ahead. #MakeTASM3 **PERSONAL STORY TIME COMPLETED**

I remember seeing this scene in theaters and I bawled. It showed how much Andrews' Spiderman thought about that moment over and over and over, it was so powerful

Whoever wrote this moment into this movie healed something in our hearts that his movie broke and I love that person for it

He spent years running through what happened in his mind and thinking about what he could have done differently. This scene is so powerful.

This is actually one of the most emotional scenes in the entire history of the MCU. The look on AG's face just crushes your heart. This was a brilliant edit. Well done.

Imagine how many times Peter had re-run that scenario in his head, imagining what he could have done differently to save Gwen. When he executed that move, it was with perfect form, like he'd seen it in his head a thousand times. And he's so happy he saved MJ, but he's also hit with that wave of sadness, because he realizes that if he'd caught Gwen and webbed the building to slow *himself* down, he could have saved her, too. So even in this moment where he does something wonderful, he can't stop beating himself up for not saving Gwen.

He nailed the acting in this one. And the scene is absolutely perfection. The emotion you could feel in your soul, cut deep.

I love that they incorporated this moment to tie in his pain from losing Gwen and not being able to save her ❤️

That was my favorite part of No Way Home. It shows that Andrew still feels regret and sadness about Gwen’s death. Gwen’s death was truly the saddest Spider-Man moment of all time. 😢

The way he made sure she was in his arms before trying the web, he didn’t want it to happen again :(

Im so glad they did gwens death justice. Growing up people tried telling me that gobling killed her and i would argue with them that no spiderman and physics did. It crushes my heart seeing that scene bc he was just trying to save her

This was to most beautiful conclusion to Andrew's Peter's hero arc. You know he relived this scenario in his head a million times.

I actually got emotional during that part. You could tell just how much he never wanted Peter to suffer the way he has.

Seeing him crying but also lightly smile showed me that he forgave himself in that moment. Realizing that even though he's powerful, he's not perfect.
