Let Me Down Slowly This Time | Peter & Gwen
Показать описание
I wouldn't be me if I didn't take a shot at one of the best cross-fandom editing trends of my favorite superhero, so here goes.
** PERSONAL STORY TIME ** (8/9/2022)
For starters, what I can say is that not many movies have managed to bring me to tears. In fact, there aren't any at all that have managed to make me full-on cry. But the death of Gwen Stacy in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' was definitely a very close first. The chemistry they had, they way it all just happened, the fact that Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone were together in real life... Just so many little things that added up, including the conflict & later resolution they had in the movie itself, all for it to be taken away in a very avoidable way. I don't think I realized how much I was a fan of their whole dynamic until I was forced to understand that it could also be taken away.
It was also one of the things that helped me understand character death as a writer, and how sometimes it's necessary in order to move on in the development of the character or story.
Moving on to the fate of the franchise: Like anyone else, I wasn't a fan of the idea of starting over. I would've rather had a Sam Raimi 'Spider-Man 4' than a new Spidey altogether, but once I watched the film for the first time and the different direction it took, I guess you could say I had a whole new appreciation for the opportunities given in reboots. I thought that Andrew was a better look for the role, the suit was unique, and his acting/writing as both Peter & Spidey were perfect. It was a superior fandom, in my book, and therefore my favorite. With that being said, you can only imagine my outrage when I learned that the third installment wasn't happening over such trivial matters.
The quality of the sequel is a different conversation that we don't need to have, but despite everything that it had going on, I thought it was a masterpiece. Right on a par with the original, if not better.
Anywho, The Amazing Spider-Man franchise had an opportunity to be saved, if you were to ask me. All it took was one great execution of the third installment, but it was stripped away! Leaving behind a bad taste in the mouths of the fanbase. And as a result, the entire franchise was dogged out. Andrew wasn't favored as a Spidey, the first film started receiving less of it's deserved recognition, and overall it was defaulted to the inferior of the three iterations. Can't say I was a fan of that at all. So you can only IMAGINE; my relief & utmost appreciation when the continuity got it's redemption in Spider-Man: No Way Home with the story of Peter 3!
I only see positive things up ahead. #MakeTASM3 **PERSONAL STORY TIME COMPLETED**
