This is Nereus an entangled seal rescue on March 21, 2016 from Hempstead Bay. He is adoptable and doing much better. This video was taken during his initial admit physical when we were able to remove the debris from his body.

Please do what Ocean Conservation Namibia does! The will watch the sea lions and spot the ones in need of help, run after them and catch them, Usually in a special net. That once in it, there is a zipper and they can unzip where needed to cut ropes, nets, wires, etc. safely from being bitten and from the seal injuring itself more. Then they release the seal and it runs away to his buddies. They carry an antibiotic spray as well if it’s needed. Not sure what they do if it has really bad injuries that need treatment though.

Sorry. I am not impressed by this video. This seal could have been freed from the ropes in its own environment. Why cause it to have extra trauma? (Ocean Namibia you rock)

Free this seal from every entanglement give the necessary treatment if required, If the injuries are deep and then release the pup back to the sea .
This could be done on the beach itself .

So instead of Simply holding the animals head so I can't bite you and cutting it free from the straps and releasing it you traumatize it by bringing it into a cage and bringing it into a human environment so that you can get feedback on it
