Показать описание
While much has changed in Calgary since making this video and we no longer recommend people move here, this does explain some of the reasons it was a cool place to live. As someone mentioned, we did not mention the cons so we are making a video dedicated to that shortly.

In this video about life in Calgary, we share the reasons we love it and the reasons why so many people from Canada and around the world are moving to this western Canadian city. Is it because it has been ranked as having one of the highest quality-of-life indexes in the world? How about being ranked the cleanest city in the world?

Partnering with RelocateLTD, we dive into what we think makes Calgary such an incredible city to live in and HOW YOU can immigrate to Canada or to Calgary specifically.

Times have changed and I'm not sure we would totally recommend moving to Calgary. It’s now the third most expensive city in Canada. However, with the boom and bust that the city is known for, there's a high chance it could collapse like it did in 2008. However, rents have gone up by 25% in one year and there's almost nothing on the market. You'd need a salary of $150K just to buy a basic townhouse. When we get a moment, we'll try and do a part 2 because this is really getting insane and the government continues to make it worse.

I moved here in 1985 as a work transferee from Montreal. It's a great place to live when you're raising a family and working. However, once those things are done, not so much. I have a golf membership, which we use for about 5 months, and we have e-bikes, which are great on the many paths. Now that we're retired, though, we get away for 4 months in the winter to Mexico. Half the folks in my complex also go south, whether it be Palm Springs, Phoenix or Vegas. There's a reason (well, maybe many)!

I've been living in Calgary for about 10 years and I can say it feels like a home to me, its summers are hot, its winters are cold and all of its seasons are equally beautiful. In the summers, the temperature usually averages around 25-30 degrees celsius each day and in winters its -20 to -35 celsius a day. Its not as cold as people say it is but the feeling of the autumn wind stirs something great in you and one think I like about it is that the teachers in our schools are particularly friendly and humorous, atleast from the schools that I went to.

Moved here 22 years ago. Super clean city with two fresh Rocky Mountain water running throw it. Huge international Airport and beautiful Chinooks during the winter that warms up the city most times for days on end.. Stunning city.

Calgary in Big Sky country is a lovely city in a beautiful area, with Rocky Mountains as a back drop. Winters are long and cold, but great for people that enjoy winter sports.

That's why I drive a Jeep Rubicon Gladiator here in Calgary. Four wheel drive, lots of ground clearance, so deep snow is fun to drive in and not a problem, but you need studded snow tires in winter for ice. We have lots of hills. Overlanding in the summer. I like the winter for ice climbing in the Ghost, Canmore, Kananaskis, and north of Lake Louise on the Ice Fields Parkway. Both nordic, back country, and downhill skiing. White water playboat kayaking in the summer. And a lifetime of mountain hiking trails. Lots of bike trails. Fatbikes work well in the winter. Ebikes are very popular.

I am born and raised in Calgary and I moved away for about 10 years, but I had to come back because there’s no place like Calgary in the world, some of the things I learned from your video, make me so happy like being one of the cleanest cities in the world is so cool every other place I’ve lived I’ve wondered why it wasn’t as clean as Calgary🤣 I guess now I know, it’s honestly my favourite place to be. You guys did Calgary justice in this video.❤️❤️❤️❤️

What a beautiful city. A shame about the public transportation: I have a medical condition that makes driving very difficult, and the one thing I really did find frustrating living in Canada was the lack of options for people without cars. It's kind of shocking, too, for a country that is otherwise so good at being aware of accessibility: there are loads of reasons (old age, young age, low income, medical conditions, etc) why a person might not be able to drive, and it's sad that something that would make so many lives so much easier is not often available. Honestly, aside from thatched cottages, the thing I missed most from England was the trains. Getting around the UK without a car is actually really easy: getting around Canada, you have to fly or drive.

We've lived in both NB and the GTA and moved to Calgary 9 years ago. This was an amazing life changed for us. We actually get outdoors in the winter here after hibernating for most of my life during winter. We're so close to the mountains and love downhill skiing, cross country skiing and hiking. I'm in the mountains most weekend because it's only an hour drive.
