Review of my 2022 Trek Emonda ALR for those that are considering this bike or may even be looking at other bikes like the Trek Domane or Madone or specialized tarmac or venge or roubaix or tbikes from other brands like pinarello or canyon.

I picked up my Emonda ALR5 Disc last summer and have been in serious lust with it since the first ride. The 105 group set is smooth and I haven't noticed any obnoxious noise from the BB. I ride on some pretty rough/sketchy roads and, though it can be a bit harsh, the ride is manageable. I'll be using the Emonda for 5 metric centuries, a ton of training rides and a lot of Zwift rides this year. Thanks for the great review!

I have the ALR from 2016, the first year version, and I absolutely love this bike. I recently upgrade the drivetrain to SRAM eTap AXS and I will be set for years to come.

I found my Domane SL6 in the size I need using the tips you laid out on your other recent video… in stock, NO wait (was March 2022 wait at all local bike shops), in the color I wanted, and only 50 miles away. Headed to pickup this weekend! Crazy excited. My first roadbike. Might have to Uber there and ride home 😝

John thank you for the excellent review. I just bought a Emonda ALR 4 Disc this morning based 20% on your review, 20% a review of its specs and 60% based on that it is available!!!! Been trying to buy a bike for over 9 months. Again, thanks for the excellent review. Where is the Emonda going to take me? Lots of places hopefully, but a trek along the Rhine from Andermatt Switzerland to Koln Germany in 2023 tops the list!!!

My approach to have my Domane AL 3 rim brake frame more comfortable to ride. In that order. 1) 30 mm (effective width) tires of high quality - GP5000. Pressure 60/65psi front/rear. 2) Carbon seatpost. 3) Carbon handlebar.
I ride in NJ/NYC area and feel quite comfortable on this bike.

If I remove 2kg from my body weight is it going to have the same effect as moving from a heavier (by 2kg) alloy frame to a lighter carbon frame on climbing?

Thanks for the review. Ordered this exact model a few days ago. The doubt I had between the Domane and the Emonda was solved by availability issues :)
If I really wanted the Domane, I'd have to wait until 2023.

John I love your videos. Just bought a 2016 emonda from someone for a very reduced cost. 300 aluminum frame, keo look pedals, Shimano 105, multiple sets of tubes and extra set of rims, it’s a 64cm which is hard to find (I’m 6’5), all for $800. Doesn’t have the hidden cables but not bad for this inflated market. Currently riding an fx, can’t wait to get into road biking. Thanks again for all your content.

I had an Emonda SL 5, and I absolutely loved it!! Unfortunately it got stolen and I could only find the ALR to replace it with.. Interestingly the ALR is a little lighter and much cheaper. Nice review.

Hey a new to the bike word ..found your channel and wow great channel ..me and wife looking to get into this world and we are not in the best shape …we want to get the into the right bike ..we was looking at the trek fx2 and the looks ok but we not in love with the looks..we like the trek domane look ..what’s your opinion we beginners ..can you maybe help out out with opinion ..or maybe make a video on bike choices with different budgets ..thanks
