D J Pope wrote this song and sang it on a talent show in Britain called NEW FACES in 1974. He was the Viewers Choice but the judge's put someone else through into the final. I saw the episode and thought he looked remarkably like singer-songwriter Albert Hammond. Interesting to see that this record was produced by Tommy Scott and Directed by Tom Parker - the same people behind the Doc Brown's cover of Billy Joel's Piano Man.

D J Pope was the son of John Pope, a colour technician working in the BBC TV Photographic Dept in the 70s. I know that D J Pope, 'David Pope' appeared on an ITV talent show which I believe he won. On the panel of judges was Arthur Askey, an old school comic who wasn't very funny in my opinion and also Ingrid Pitt, an actress. I think the other two judges were Mickey Most and Tony Hatch but I'm not too sure on that. At the end of D J Pope's performance, Arthur Askey turned to Ingrid Pitt and didn't cry like that in rehearsals'.
