Run Windows Programs on Linux with Wine. I'll be using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to show you how to install Wine, but it's available for MacOS, Unix based systems, and Multiple Linux Distros. Wine uses a translation layer (POSIX) to natively run windows APPS on Linux.

Thanks this is the only tutorial that worked for mint. Moving to Linux is hard and I only recommend it for computer buffs. Seems easy to us nerds but the fact that half of the tutorials to install something so simple didn't work is telling.

one of the most clear and concise instructional/tutorial videos i've seen on wine on linux. Huge props on transforming a(what seemed to be) complicated process into a simple tutorial. Thank u, appreciate it

After you install wine you can just right click on the Windows application that you want to run and click run with and then click on wine

I've been using computers since they were invented... and I can tell you one thing for sure. Until the Linux programmers completely and reliably find a way to AUTOMATE this entire process, comparatively few users... perhaps 1%... will ever go through those hoops to run a Windows program on Linux.
To restate: those promoting Wine are missing 99% of all potential users. Take it from there.

There should be absolutely no reason to use Notepad on Linux, but I'm attempting now to install the Ultima Online client using Wine. Thanks for the tutorial!

I got an error with the "sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable" command. It says that

"The following packages have unmet dependencies:

winehq-stable : Depends: wine-stable (= 8.0.2~jammy-1)
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."

I'm running KDE Neon 5.27, with Kernel 6.2.0-39-generic (64-bit), and X11 graphics platform.

Thank you, I can confirm this works also! Since I use Microsoft 365 office and Notion on my Windows laptop, is it possible to show how we can install those apps with Wine? I'm using linux mint 21.2
