How to Paint a Stucco Ceiling

The difference between painting a stucco ceiling and a regular ceiling is that it will spray back profusely. Start by getting your entire ground area covered with paper or drop sheets.

Start with the cuts; a thicker mini roller works well for this.

Make sure you get the ceiling paint right in the crack where it meets the wall in order to have a fresh cut line to work with when you paint the walls. This can be achieved by working the paint in with a 1” inch brush, and then spreading it out on the wall (if you’re painting the wall afterward) to ensure you don’t have any lumps on the walls when you go to paint them later.

Wait for each coat to dry before applying the next one. When rolling the stucco ceiling use a 20mm roller that is meant for rough surfaces, and also don’t forget to wear your eye protection and face mask!
