I've been using Bitwig for years yet this is probably the best bitwig explanation video I have seen yet. Loads of great tips that even after years of use I didn't know. 😅 I am excited to see you do 'The Grid' in complete detail. Bitwig community needs more videos like this and thanks for your contributions.

This video is now 2 years old, and yet, it's the best intro to Bitwig from all the videos that I watched.

Thanks for a really thorough overview of how cool and easy to use Bitwig is. I used to be an FL Studio user, but I went fully Linux years ago. I was also surprised at how great Bitwig is. It has a very good piano roll which is the price of entry for any DAW. The signal processing capabilities, modulation, automation -- incredibly powerful. Then there's the Grid. Just wow.

One thing that's often overlooked is the plug-in protection so that a glitchy VST can't crash the whole DAW. Another thing I really like is the piano roll option to display all your piano rolls while you edit, basically allowing you to see the entire score and switch from one instrument to another to edit.

Just a clarification – it's not only the devices with a dedicated sidechain input (or a button for one) that can be sidechained. There is also a modulator for adding a sidechain input to ANY parameter in ANY device. Ditto for audio rate modulation. This can be useful for adding sidechain to a particular band of the EQ, for instance.

Thanks dude! As a Linux user, this looks incredible. I'm a previous Cubase/Logic/Reason user, so this looks like my next!

Awesome tips. I just made the switch to Bitwig 2 weeks ago and have found the workflow and features so easy to use. Really enjoy using it with my external eurorack gear as well.

I’m not a bitwig beginner, but because it’s Cameron, I’m gonna watch this anyway.

I would love more Bitwig tutorials, whether Grid or anything else Bitwiggy (is that even a word? It is now!) You have a good, clear way of explaining things which I enjoy.

I love it.
The 8 track version came with my Nektar Keyboard. The more I learn, the more I love Bitwig. They have so much stuff streamlined for the user. Upgraded to Bitwig studio a while back.

Didn't like it at first since most youtube tutorials use Fl Studio, and Ableton; so when I was learning I didn't realize how helpful it was for the user as it has so much stuff on the screen already, without having to shuffle through tabs and such.

A useful feature with the arrangement vs. clip views is that you can hit record and jam with the different scenes in the clip view, and what you're doing all shows up as an arrangement. Then obviously you can jump in and edit that.

Another way I like to work with a mix of the two views is that you can have one track playing loops (clips) while the rest of the tracks are playing the arrangement, or vice versa. I find this useful when I'm working on adding a new track to something that I had started to arrange.

Nice vid!

I've been using Bitwig for a couple of years and every time I watch a new tutorial I learn something new so I'd definitely appreciate some more Bitwig knowledge (once your new production facility is in place (good luck with that)).
