1 advice for all Engineering students, RUN away from MacBooks. Almost none of your Engineering softwares would be compatible with MacOS. You’d end up having to rely on virtual machines which would be limited in many areas.

Those guys who are confused about integrated or dedicated graphics card, i want to say that integrated one can only help you to the college level but the dedicated one will help you in the industrial level. Dedicated graphics is always better than Integrated one.

Not exactly a budget option, but I've been very happy with my Dell Precision 5770 as an engineering student. It's the same chassis and 4K display as the XPS 17, but with a RTX A series GPU. I specced mine with the 4K display, 32GB RAM, an i7-12700H, an Nvidia RTX A2000, and 1TB of SSD storage. Runs Matlab and SolidWorks very smoothly, and does well with most games too. The display is amazing for movies in my free time too.

Thank you for the recommendations for the laptops. Could you do a video on your transition from being a Mechanical Engineering student to being a Mechanical Engineering. What would you think you would have done differently if you had to start all over again as a student and as an Engineer. Thank you for the content.

I'd like to add something, if you can try and find a laptop will let you upgrade the RAM and storage. It'll be much cheaper to buy the laptop with less memory and storage, and just upgrade as you need it. Buy it with 16GB of RAM and upgrade to 32 or 64 as you start to run out doing more intensive work. Same with storage, upgrade or add storage as it fills up. Much more cost-effective this way.

This video would have been helpful 4-5 months ago 😅. Either way, great way to help incoming mechanical engineering students with their journey! Memory and specs is very important, specially when using software like Solidworks. You want to make sure your laptop can handle the program and that rendered images look good. Keep working hard Anna!

Awesome! I'm almost in my final year of Mechanical Engineering and though I enjoyed all courses taken so far, but find thermodynamics and fluid mechanics more Interesting and would like to take interest in Energy/Heating and Ventilation and would like you to please suggest possible undergraduate resources that can help with project topics in these areas.

Workstation gpu and gaming gpu are different. If you are in engineering company, then you won't find the provided workstation laptop with a gaming gpu.

Hi, do you think there are any 2-in-1 laptops that could be on the premium or pro tier?

Hi do you think Dell - G16 16" Gaming Laptop - Intel Core i9 - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 - 32GB Memory - 1TB SSD is enough for a student studying graphic design and industrial design?

Hello, can you give me an answer? I work at a university with AutoCAD and Civil 3D programs. I'm confused now and don't know which laptop to buy, budget 1000-1500 dollars. I wouldn’t want to buy a heavy gaming laptop, but the airflow system should be good, what are the options?
