Loving this so far. I'm a software engineer and a major AI guy, and I'm fascinated by the concepts of consciousness, sentience, self-awareness and sapience arising in machines of our own design. I know it will happen because the brain is a biological computer, the universe itself is a simulation ... we will figure out the processes by which they work and simulate them. It's amazing, scary and also hopeful. The future is going to get really weird, in good and bad ways.

That was great thank you. What I thought was interesting was the theory that non conscious intelligence "pure replicators" would create a hostile environment competing with all other replicators and that open conscious intelligence would behave contrary to this. But human beings are a form of conscious intelligence (suggested as closed individualism but could also be open) living in a hostile environment competing with all other replicators. How can we be so certain conscious intelligence, open closed or empty, would behave any different to us, hostile?
