Bless the hearts of people who actually think the echoes system will be a huge departure from relic/artifact hell. I hope I’m wrong, but gearing is what keeps people logging in daily for the long-term in gacha games. No way in hell that Kuro allows you to gear your units with great main/substats in a few weeks. I know we’re all in the ‘Kuro is sooo different and generous’ honeymoon phase, but this is still a predatory gacha game that will find a way to keep you hooked for months/years to come.

I think you forgot to mention how the traversal is much smoother, with no stamina consumption outside of combat while running, the ability to wallrun, the grappling hook, the backflip mid air, the vault above obstacles if you bump your head while climbing, echoes used for traversal (for example motorcycle echo)..

There is another point regarding combat. Every character also has combos mechanic, so basically performing a sequence of attack provide a specific outcome different for every character, mixing normal attack, skills, heavy attack, dodge attack etc...

about the leveling of echo's you can farm the item needed to reveal the sub stats it drops along side the material to level the echo on cbt they where separated but players suggest it to be join in 1 domain. tuning makes it so you can reveal the substat and not waste exp. this is my understanding from looking at video guides.
