Hiking Big Laguna Mountain Loop near Julian, California

Day hiking the amazing Big Laguna Mountain Loop trail in Cleveland National Forest near Julian, California. Short drive from San Diego. Roughly 10.2 miles, this loop encompasses pine forest and meadows as well as having beautiful, expansive views of the desert and Coachella valley to the east when you are on the Pacific Crest Trail portion (~4 miles). There are portions of the PCT where you can even see the Salton Sea in the distance. The PCT portion of the loop is definitely the most exciting part of the hike, although the entire loop is worth it. Very relaxing hike, not much elevation gain. Would do it again and possibly try to make the loop longer by adding more of the PCT.
