Chuckles Band: Another 80's 976 Number Commercial

Here's another 976 number that targeted younger audiences in the 80s. To this day I'm still not 100% sure what they're trying to do here...

This was advertised on WBFS TV 33 (at the time an independent station) during the "Funshine Festival."

Appropriate for all audiences (I think...) Not targeted towards any age group.

A high quality rip of this commercial has been lost for awhile, thanks for uploading this. Though the other version seemingly talks about “the wizard’s band”, whatever that was.

Totally called this without asking mom or dad.
I didn't understand the format of the call the first time. It was all prerecorded and you had to sing when given the cue, which comes quickly. I ended up just saying "hello?" and then they played a recording of that right back to me.
Got it right the second time!

I've been singing this song since 1988. I called this number twice as a kid. You had the option to sing alone or listen to other kids sing

The Chuckles Band went on tour in 1988 and never came back.

I always thought it was a Chuck E Cheese commercial. I guess not. This commercial is still stuck in my head many years later.

I called this number on a rotary phone from Coral Springs in 1988. I hope they enjoyed my grandma's $2.50

This made a lasting impression on me, but I swear there was a longer version where a Canadian celebrity I'd never heard of assured parents this was somehow educational. I'd love to see that introduction again just to determine who the alleged celebrity was.

I remember seeing this in the 80s on PBS network.

4 year old Olivia called Dial a Joke on an episode of the Cosby Show, without getting adult's permission. So I guess even kids got suckered into these numbers, unfortunately.

So it's like... karaoke you pay for over the phone only you can hear while you sing?

Do you remember what channel this was on, what show it was airing, or even what commercials were before or after it?
