Texas National Guardsmen Patrol the Southern Border of Texas

Two Texas Army National Guardsmen, Spc. Ragland and Spc. Ramirez, Alpha Company, Task Force Center, describe a typical nightly patrol on Operation Lone Star near Laredo, TX. The guardsmen are in contact with law enforcement agencies that have various detection devices along the banks of the border river, and they communicate where the soldiers should position themselves to deter the illegal crossing, or even to apprehend the illegal aliens that have already come across before they can reach their destination. Often, illegal aliens will be in contact with scouts that tell them where to go to hide from the soldiers, but the soldiers have been trained to discover their hiding spots and deter them from crossing with their presence.
