Cyprus, the birthplace of Aphrodite (Venus)
According to the legend, Aphrodite washed out of the sea foams near Paphos on the southwest coast of Cyprus. Thus, during the late Hellenistic times and throughout the Roman period, people of Cyprus worshiped the goddess of love, in sanctuaries and temples found in all known cities of that period.
In this video, while listening to couplets dedicated to the goddess of love, the audience can watch glimpses of archeological places of interest and ruins of sanctuaries and temples of Aphrodite.
