NTUA Prometheus 'Pyrforos II' new chassis and shell.

Team Prometheus from the National Technical University of Athens has come up this year with a new vehicle for the Shell EcoMarathon competition, "Pyrforos II". Aiming for less energy consumption and a higher ranking in the competition, radical changes had to be done.
To accommodate the need for low weight, while maintaining the cost at a low rate, aluminum body-on-frame was chosen over carbon monocoque chassis.
During the design of the outer shell, the shape and motion of a drop were used as guidelines. The shell was constructed using 2 layers of fiberglass and a layer of PVC foam in the middle thus granting the shell high durability
