Even though all of us prefer the original of course, It's good to appreciate the time and effort actually put into the animation. It's pretty fluid.

The original 2003 Elf is better in my opinion because that's the version I grew up with. It came out when I was 12 years old. The 2014 remake seems pointless to me.

In the live-action movie you can see the contrast between the Elf and the society. In the animated film, he looks like another regular cartoony character (who might come from Germany rather than the North Pole)

Elf 2003 it's more absurd, but that makes it more magical.

Anyone realize the remake has the same stop motion similar to the Spongebob Squrepants Christmas special?

Also, yeah, the original is a lot better in my opinion.

I only liked the 2014 version of Elf because of Buddy’s love interest design. Other than that, I prefer the original over the remake.

Elfs charm was having a Christmas cartoon like character in the real world being awkward and out of place, perfectly played by Will Ferrel, making a stop motion cartoon defeats the whole purpose of why it'd so beloved nearly 20 years later.

I remember being in a flight and they played the remake on the plane. I didn’t have any headphones so I had no idea what was happening and I was only half awake, so it all felt like a fever dream and I forgot it existed until now.
