Good timing. I'm sure a number of sports photo folks will be starting to think about the summer Olympics riiiight around the time this starts getting comprehensively reviewed and used real world. I can't say I aspire to own a Sony but lots of credit for constantly pushing forward.

0:38 I love the funny bits on this segment for your sponsors and not just tell a boring message. please please consider doing this more often! If you can do small funny sketches doesn’t have to be fancy and doesn’t have to be a separate scene. Just do a nice real fast Segway as long as it’s funny. I know you guys have amazing sense of humour use that you advantage and keep things interesting. Thank you. God bless you guys rock!

Great work from Sony as always. As a wildlife photographer who only shoot stills I won't be getting this as the global shutter doesn't matter to me as much as the 50 mp of the a1. I often crop my images so having more mp is king. Having said that I would definitely like to have the pre capture feature. I was hoping it will come in the firmware update. I guess I will have to wait for the a1ii

Sony haven't done this type of an event since 2018 which was the launched of the A7iii. Now that they held this event again with the A9-iii having so many photographers there to capture the moving models, they are serious about their new Global Shutter sensor. Back in 2017, not a lot of photographers reviewed the A9 besides Jared Polin, Jason Vong, Ted Forbes, Tony & Chelsea, Dan Watson and a few others. Today, there are more photographers talking about the a9-iii more than ever before. Looking forward to all the review videos and seeing the next revolution in the camera world. I've been waiting for Global Shutter too and I cannot wait to play with the A9-iii. Thanks Petal Pixel.

2:43 - exposure happens all at once, the charges are transferred, and readout is still in sequence.

Never thought I could see global shutter full frame camera this quick. Can't wait to see how other camera companies will utilize their own global shutter cameras!

The 120 FPS is great, especially if it at 24 MP. The Z9 already does that but smaller sized. Since it has the ability to shoot that fast, the buffer needs to be larger. “Another manufacturer” already has internal storage, if they added internal storage, they might could utilize it for the buffer. Either way, the buffer needs to be larger and clear faster. That being said, it seems to be a great tool. I am sure it will do well.

small point: in the video banding and flickering are mixed up (which happens often, as they result from the same phenomenon, a flickering light source) - banding comes from a sequential readout of the lines of the sensor, so a global shutter should be, per principle, free of any banding. the camera has an anti-flickering function, which detects flickering and then exposes at the peak of the flicker, suppressing variation of exposure between images (not within images, that's the banding noted before).

Yeah! The G9ii is in service and doing a great job! (Mine arrives in a few days. Can't wait.)

13:20 The A7Rv was less noisy that the A9iii in both pictures, especially at 20, 000iso. I imagine dynamic range will be better on the A7Rv too. The cameras of course are designed two completely different things. I imagine the A1ii will be a compromise of both, but hardly 'worse' than either.

Nice video and review of great product. Also I am quite amazed how Chris managed to get Hugh Brownstone as his shadow (15:55). Neat 👍
