Why the Yamaha FZ6 is Still Relevant Today

If you're blazing fast on the track, buy an R6 or bigger. If not, don't bother.

In this video, I make a case as to why the outdated FZ6 is still perfectly relevant today. Its inline-4 powerplant is plenty fast for most riders, yet it is perfectly comfortable for street riding and commuting.

Riding was done through Santiago Canyon & Trabuco Canyon in Orange County, CA.

My son has a 2006 FZ6 and it's a FANTASTIC bike. Inline 4's that are not supersports are basically non-existent now which makes this bike all the more special.

Bought my FZ6 here in the UK IN 2005. I had her for 15 years until i had to stop riding due to having a minor stroke and started having blackouts. Broke my heart when i sold her. She was a brilliant bike for me to ride to work and ride outs around the UK and in other parts of Europe.

I bought my fz6 as 2 year (keep & step up) bike, then get something bigger. That was 2013 & 7 years later it's still here, quite afew extras & still looking great. Not going anywhere soon, Brilliant motorcycle. ;-)

I am also bought new FZ6 14 years ago brand new, it was my first step from owning 50cc to 600cc, absolutely no problem, bike drives itself, at first one needs to get used to its weight 200kg to not drop it on lights etc. always driver needs to focus to hold it firmly with steady feet on the ground. Later it comes automatically. That was just beginners msg.. Now I have 67.000km, engine drives like new, in fact the whole lot drives like new. I dropped it 2 times, replaced all front plastics, new (custom sporty more down facing) handlebars, few dips still on tank but you wear it you tear it like.. drives and looks perfect. I bought LED taillight with integrated indicators (120$) dont buy cheap, buy this more expensive looks and work amazingly.. using michelin pilot road 4, best tyres for this bike in my opinion for road driving like, fitted heated hanldebars and fried my alternator rotor, so dumped them away, bought new alternator rotor part, drives like new again.. I am not planning to get rid of it soon and for sure will stay with me couple more years.. also got scorpion carbon exhaust pipes, when driving in group they tell me, they dont here their noise, they all hear mine 😁✌ so loud.. happy driving!

I bought a 2005 fz6 for my first bike and I love it! I still have it. My husband has a Harley and R1 and rides my bike for comfort and excellent gas mileage.

I've a FZS 600 from 2003 and I love it. Feels sporty and it really is comfy to ride.

I grabbed an 09 with 8500 miles last week. I honestly can’t believe how fast it is. It going to be a good summer.

The FZ6 under-seat pipes is a good look, and I went naked with mine. Great used machine for the price. I put on Michelin Road 5's and that instantly improved the sluggish cornering.

I love mine too, bought new, and of all the bikes I have owned this one has the best overall compromise, it is powerful, the engine is absolutely smooth, does not get too hot, has good mileage( fuel tank of 19 liters), good brakes and is quite light.
But I would never recommend it as a beginner bike. When you have experience though, it is the bike.

I have one of these from 2007 and it's awesome. It's not ridiculously fast but man you can make it do some crazy stuff with a few minor adjustments to bars and suspension.

I love mine, it's an 07 red with black frame.  I looked up power ratings for the newer naked bikes and the fz6 actually makes 10-18 more hp than most of them.  To me that's pretty good for a 2000 dollar bike, you get a lot of grunt for your money.  This bike is and will be relevant for years to come just as superbikes from the 80s and 90s will still do the job.

I have an 06 I bought from new, the exact same color as this one. Great little bike. Loads of fun to ride.
