Christianity in its purest form certainly isn’t oppressive or sexist, but I do think it’s good to acknowledge that there has been abuse of power within the history of the church, which is why it’s so important that we continue to seek the truths of the scriptures

From a historical perspective the idea that peasants were being tossed into war by lords is dubious, while there are many different time periods, in general it was the most motivated that would fight i.e. landowners. Slave armies generally don't fight well, sometimes lower classes forced into armies but conscription has problems economically and pragmatically and generally wasn't practiced for long (its more of a thing in modern war). In medieval warfare the ones who fought generally were professional or semiprofessional fighters which meant they built some wealth and were provided a path to build into into higher classes, in fact English Yeoman class being so important to the English army arguably led to the development of a middle class in western culture and the end of feudalism. Sieges however could be brutal on a general population in all time periods (including the present).
